PUNTILA & HIS MAN MATTI

by Bertolt Brecht
directed by Nate Allen
Season 17
October 17—December 4, 2004

Strawdog is excited to welcome director Nathan Allen of The House Theatre (The Terrible Tragedy of Peter Pan, Rocket Man and Cave with Man) to the first mainstage show of Season Seventeen.

Mr. Puntila is a well-to-do land-owner who's the soul of fraternity and good-will when drunk, but when he suffers one of his attacks of sobriety he's a terror to everyone around him, especially his daughter Eva and his long-suffering chauffer Matti.

Brecht's famous blend of social observation and high comedy mixed in with original live music and dancehall hijinx for good measure. It's an intoxicating brew for the eyes, ears and head.
